This Zodiac D-2080 floor lamp is a design by architect Ton A.C. Alberts for Raak in the 1960's. Alberts was a Dutch architect who is best known for his organic architecture based on anthroposophical principles.
According to the RAAK catalogue; "A large, opal globe of ø50 cm that rests on a low frame of dark glowing rosewood and cool bare metal. This floor lamp shines in all directions, like the rising sun and draws an interesting beauty on the faces of those present"
The lamp is part of the permanent design collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.
This lamp is in a very good condition, with minor signs of age and use.
