The 606 universal shelving  system was designed by Dieter Rams for Vitsoe in Germany in 1960. Rams created the 606 at the age of 28, going on to become one of the foremost industrial designers of the 20th century. A timeless design that is still in production. This particular wall unit is a version with black shelves with anodized aluminum sides from the second half of the 1980's. It consists of 4 E-shaped aluminum profiles for vertical wall mounting in two lengths. The 3 wider shelves and 8 smaller width shelves and also the cabinet containig LP/single holders or bookends with up and over door, are simply hooked in and held in place with aluminum pins. This creates a wide range of possible combinations. The shelving system is in a very good condition with smaller signs of age and use, mainly to one side of the shelf inside the cabinet.
